to existing customers who choose (where allowed by 3) to upgrade their mobile.
In all circumstances you must return your mobile to the retailer from which you bought it, along with the original boxed accessories and documentation ‘as new’. (I also received a letter at the same time I got the phone saying I can turn on phone, check menu’s and options & look at the phone + accessories without damaging in anything)

Long story short, I purchased my htc disire hd from 3 ONLINE on a 24 month plan (£40 per month) contract. The phone came today, i opened the box, opend the charger ( in order to charge the phone I am aloud to “turn on”) played around with the phone for a few minutes and immediately regretted the whole contract :l

Note: the phone, box and accessories is still in perfect condition!

When mobile providers upgrade their system from 2G to 3G, is it on the same equipment or do the install new?

Question by Stephen B: When mobile providers upgrade their system from 2G to 3G, is it on the same equipment or do the install new?
Cingular now has 3G network on some phones, what do they do with the former 2G network?

Best answer:

Answer by nightlisa2
Typically they phase out the older equipment and install new. 2G was very slow in accommodating the data packets that people are starting to use more common place today.

2G uses mostly TDMA or CDMA networks, which originally was an improvement from analog to digital signal, but 3G works better with GSM networks, and GPRS requirements.

Some companies like AT&T/Cingular kept both equipment installed 2G & 3G. But when new towers went in, only 3G/GSM towers were going up. All the TDMA towers were left in place, but eventually people carrying TDMA cell phones, noticed their signal strength was not near what someone else carrying a GSM phone would receive. And then as phones broke down or upgrade new contracts went into effect, the only new equipment you could buy was GSM.

Is it safer to go online using wifi or 3G/4G service on your mobile phone?

Question by Leanne: Is it safer to go online using wifi or 3G/4G service on your mobile phone?
Is it safer to go online using wifi or 3G/4G service on your mobile phone? Assuming the phone is either 3G or 4G capable and can access the internet through wifi as well, what would be safer to use?

Best answer:

Answer by ddominic
Wi Fi is not secure if it is in a public place and anyone can access the internet. However there are Wi-Fi places that require a WEP key password in order to access their network and log into their network. Then this is the safest way and secure.

With 3G and 4G the cell phone companies have their own login with your cell phone number and so it is somewhat secure and safe. However you are trusting a cell phone company for their security and software updates.

So if I had to pick Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G, I would pick Wi-Fi with encryption WEP key password is truly the safest. Since you know it requires a encryption password to login.

Question by f a y e <3: If I get the T-Mobile Dash 3G or the Blackberry Curve 8590, do I have to get the internet?
If I get the phone, do I have to pay for the internet, or is the phone with free wi-fi?
Because, nowadays, they say I have to pay for internet for smart phones.
Are those counted as smart phones?

Best answer:

Answer by Nikole
For the most part you have to either get unlimited internet or unlimited messaging in order to qualify for the discount on the phone. If you are getting it from another company or ebay or something like that, then no it isn’t required. These phones *if you mean the 8520 or 8900* do have wifi as well.
